I hope this Post finds everyone doing well.
I am 23 and currently have my CFI-I, but not my CFI-A. I am thinking about doing my CFI-A as an add on at Air Orlando. It’s a long story, but I haven’t been flying for a few months (I was laid off from a ground instructor position at NWA.) I have not yet gone to Air Orlando to discuss training/jobs because I want to be as prepared as possible when I show up at their doorsteps. Any information would be greatly appreciated and if anyone else in the Orlando area is working on their CFIs, I would love to study/fly together.
A couple specific questions that I have:
1. Do they have their own syllabus for Private, Commercial, Instrument, etc ? Or, should I come fully prepared with my own Syllabus for each certificate and rating? I have done most of my training in a large University atmosphere, and want to learn how things are done at FBOs.
2. How important is it to complete your CFI training at the FBO you want to be hired with? In other words, would it be silly to do my CFI training with someone who says they don’t predict any job openings in the near future. Or, should I wait until I find a FBO that has possible openings, and do my CFI with them? In house CFI's VS off the street CFI's
3. Is the Orlando Instructor market ridiculously saturated after the closure of Airline Training Academy (ATA)?
P.S. I have not had many posts on this website, but It has been very helpful over the past few years. I appreciate Everyone’s posts and wish everyone the best. During my interview for my previous A320 ground instructor position at NWA, I was asked how I keep current with the airline industry. I told them how helpful flightinfo.com was =). I also gave this response a couple months ago at my interview for Emirates Airline in Dubai (I wasn't qualified for the position, but they still interviewed me based on my recommendations).
Cheers,
Bradley Bailey
