FlightSafety will finish up your student in about seven-eight months. And, he'll receive some decent training to boot.
Really, FSI is a good program. I taught there. I still am of the belief that going a little slower is better. There's a lot of learning to receive, and if one goes too fast one may miss some of the fine points or not learn it to the depth one should or might if force-fed. Moreover, unless one continues flying upon graduation and can apply and build upon what was just learned, one might lose that learning as fast as it was received. The key is consistency.
Being a graduate of a "slower" program, you might make these points to your student.
I like what I hear about ATP. The swaying vote is the amount of Multi-time in their program.
The other warning to your student is preparation - every mill school (Comair - PS now Called DAA or Delta, Pan Am, FSI, North American, ATP) wants your money. Their guarantee ends where you have the capacity to stay within their 141 approved curriculum. If you are not prepared and ahead of every course, you are going to be throwing quite a few extra dollars into this scheme. Because anything which is a remedial lesson or re-check is extra cash and when you see their rental rates outside of the curriculum - WOW!
