Where can I find the FAR reference to Service Ceiling and Absolute Ceiling? I have looked thru 23.1527 and it describes max operating altitude, but does this apply to Service and Absolute Ceilings defined in a POH. I read this thread but Avbug did not state where that information was obtained.

Am I missing something here in the FAR's, or am I supposed to apply Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators interpretation even though I am not a naval aviator.

The max operating altitude is the only one you can find in Part 23 because it's the only one of the three that is an aircraft limitiation. The others are just aviation words. They are not regulatory, so they don't have an FAR definition.
