This company has an add in Trade-A-Plane.

ALASKAN BUSH PILOTS needed. Will be flying Piper Lances to remote areas of Alaska. Must have a minimum of 1000 total time and 250 Cross Country and 250 minimum flying Lances. Fax resume to AK/(907) 456-3149 or call (907) 456-3140 and ask for Don or Richard.

Anybody know anything about them? Pay, schedule, etc? Nothing in a search of the boards.

Thanks,

Geigo

907 is anchorage or fairbanks....or even the whole darn state.

reverse lookup shows 'Servant Air' in Fairbanks. Seems like its a small company too. the D/O is also the Chier pilot. and the maintenance director is probably one of two mechanics....if that many. But im not really sure on that.

looking them up in RAA.org says the operate 5 Lances and 1 Navajo. Nothing else so far.

Theres alot of small operators flying the same sorts of equipment. Check out who you look to fly for. Make sure they have things together. Latest intel <from cold calling basicly> says that Mail contracts are plentiful for everyone however they are being given out nowdays/recently to passenger carrying aircraft operators. so if they carry mail they have to be able to carry people too on the same flight. Mail contract rules now. So if you fly for a 100% mail hauler, they might loose their contract soon unless they start taking passengers too. and then youll be SOL. Anchorage seems to have a glut of pilots...too many. its tight finding work there. but Fairbanks aparently has openings. ?I know Grant Aviation (fairbanks) was looking for 5 pilots with good judgement.

good luck.

thats just what ive found.

Thanks Rob,

I did talk to them and it is mostly mail/cargo two positions outbased in west/northwest alaska returning to Fairbanks when 100hr is needed. They payed what seamed to me as pretty well and provide housing in the bush. Didn't sound like too bad of an operation, but of course that is just one side.

They did tell me that insurance for Alaska was pretty picky about having type specific time. I wouldn't think insurance would be that bad about PA-32 vs C-210 time, but I know Alaska is a different world. We'll see what happens, I just need to make sure I pack my long john's!

Also get some black carharrts. If you come to Alaska, know the requirements for Special VFR word for word.
