Let's say on one of my solo X-C's I fly over an item of interest and take a picture. Later someone says "hey, that's my house in that picture, I'd like to buy a copy of it." Can I sell them a copy of the picture?

I'm not laywer but I'd say go ahead and sell. As long as you aren't making a habit of it, ie selling bundels of them. I'd also keep it on the down low, not that its exactly wrong but not something you'd want to spread attention too.
 
Just make sure you report the money you make off of it to the IRS on April 15th. ;)

yeah you should be fine, even if you were selling a bunch. Afterall you tookt he picture and as far as i know there is no requirement for a model release for a house. Now if that picture is of an actual person or a registered trademark, thats a different story.

So you should be pretty right.
