I heard USAir will start charging the non wholly owned airlines and I'm sure they will retaliate. I can just picture the conversation.

Ornstein: Hey Dave you want another beer?

Segal: Sure man grab me one. What were we talking about? Oh yeah, how can we screw over our employees this month? I've got a great idea. Lets start charging them to get to work.

Ornstein: No, that would really make us look bad.

Segal: Not if I did it to you and you did it to me. Hell, the stupid pilots will probably just blame each other anyway.

Ornstein: Now your talking. Who goes first?

Segal: Lets flip. Heads or tails?

United do it already to the Express carriers.

If you can't jump seat and have to do a write your own you get charged. This only applies to mainline travel but the kicker - mainline don't get charged to ride Express.

It costs $12.50 to get to work already at ExpressJet. I think that this should be fixed. We should not have to pay to get to our own jobs.

huh?

admittedly, i haven't had to commute in a long time, but, as far as i know, jumpseating is still free. of course, with cal's jumpseat policy, it's often hard to actually get the jumpseat, so if there's open seats in the back, yes, you have to list yourself, and pay the 10 dollar charge. then again, if cal keeps handing xjet more of its 'mainline' routes, our commuters won't have to pay cal the nonrev fees.. it'll all be xjet soon enough.

my bad....looking at your profile I thought you were another Franklin....

Rumorhasit: I posted a very long apology and explanation on another thread. Also, it costs $12.50 to get to work at ExpressJet if someone else has already signed up for the jumpseat on a CAL flight. I guess that I just don't think that we should have to pay anything at all to ride on our own airline (in the cabin)

Sincerely,

B. Franklin

Well I've been experiencing a rude awakening since perusing these boards. I always though a pilot could grab an open seat on any carrier as long as there was a reciprocal agreement. Now I'm learning some dont let any more on than jumpseats availabe if your offline, and now XJET even charges their own if you are not the first to sign up....geeez:rolleyes:

just a clarification, pipejockey....

jumpseating on offline carriers is subject to that carriers policies. some airlines allow as many jumpseaters as there are empty seats, others only allow as many jumpseaters as there are physical jumpseats installed. Any open seat in the back is a jumpseat at Xjet (provided they have reciprocal j/s agreement with your airline). cal however, only allows the number of jumpseats installed. so you can have an empty 737, and a cal jumpseater signed up for the jumpseat.. no more jumpseats available, and we must buy a pass to get on.

but, xjet doesn't "charge their own," or anybody for that matter, for the jumpseat(s). if there's an open seat, depending on boarding priority (xjet pilot, cal pilot, offline pilot, etc) and of course, the captain's final say and approval, you get on, no charges, other than a thank you and professional courtesy in the future.

Hi all ; question for XJET guys how full are the loads from DFW to IAH? as far as jumpseating is concerned.

Jobear

jobear: The loads can be really full at times there. I was asking a gate agent one time about it. She said that sundays are pretty full all day going to IAH. SHe did say that sometimes lots of people show up early and get on a different plane. I think that we have a flight every hour there anyways. I think that I have had to include a jumpseater on the wieght and balance form everytime I have been to dfw. I hope that helps.

Sincerely,

B. Franklin
