Due to the north Florida wildfires we will now be flying instead of driving to our Keys vacation which would is great except I have to covertly yet safely get a platinum engagement ring to our destination via the airlines.

Since i don't wear any other jewelry other than a watch, which I remove and put in the basket, I have no clue what will or won't set the screening machine off. Obviously if I have the ring on my person I don't want to set the machine off and have to remove it.

So my question to those of you who go through these machine everyday is will they even notice the ring if its in my pocket or wallet?

If so my only other option is to pack it, check it in and pray.

Thanks for the help!

Had the same exact problem this past March, except she wasn't flying with me.

I put it in my laptop carryon, and I got selected for secondary screening. She went through *everything* in my bag, found it and even opened the case to take a look.

I asked her if she looked to see if my lady was with me, and she said "no". I would have been in a bad spot if the g/f (at the time) was traveling with me.

Another one of my friends had a similar issue as me, secondary screen, but the g/f was with him. He told her to "go get me some coffee real quick" (coolest guy ever) as he got chosen for the secondary screen. They are still getting married this year ;-)

I think if I was traveling with her I would keep it in my pocket, but I really think it is circumstantial.

Take a chance and have it shipped to your destination. I'm sure the front desk clerk at the Motel 6 would take great care of it.

Why dont you just put it in your carry on bag.
