It may have a government that is more corrupt than some African countries.

The idiot who was governor when I was there was getting ready to retire after I had left St. Thomas. He was the guy in his 70's or 80's who allegedly had a nose candy problem.

Just before he left office he pardoned some convicted murderers doing life who were involved in a hijacking if I remember correctly that happened back in the 80's. This even outraged the locals down there, but too late. A pardon is a pardon. I wonder what changed hands (allegedly) to make him do that?

I just sat next to one of the original (and current) owners of Seaborne on my flight back to SJU. Great guy....very nice and easy to talk to. He definitely did not seem to be one of those typical management types. Sounds like it would be some fun flying. Of course, the ATR out of SJU is fun too.
