does anyone know where to get the patch for the captains hat.. I can not justify buying a new $70 hat when I have a perfectly good hat and all I need are the scrambled eggs and a piece of felt.

Thanks

Now I know why pilots have the reputation for being cheap a$$ bastards. You are now officially a true airline pilot!!

Having said that, I would do the same thing 'cause I'm a cheap bastard

i witnessed the summit of cheap a$$ pilot the other day. a certain fbo sells its t-shirts for $2.95. some slowtation driver asks can i have some free shirts? i laughed out loud. he turned around and looked at me. he didnt want to pony up 6 bucks. his argument "i am buying gas". no he's not. his boss is buying gas.

I believe you are an ASA pilot. If so, just do what I did. Wait till Dowden buys another hat, then swipe it when he's not looking? :D

jk WD.

Or just dont wear one.No contract no hat!!!That'll teach 'em

If you work at ASA and you're seen wearing a hat at all......especially a clean one......we will ALL know you're a new upgrade

Just goes to show how much respect pilot have for their profession (not company). Dont be a cheap bastard and go get yourself a captain hat. Have some respect for those professionals around you. Congrats on the upgrade.

Why should I purchase a new hat when the hat that I have is perfectly fine.. all it needs is .05 cents worth of felt on the bill and the scrambled eggs.. that cant cost more than a couple of bucks plus some shipping..

why is this such a big deal to everyone.. I dont think this is being cheep, I think this is being smart..

If you have a perfectly good hat that needs less than 2 dollars worth of repairs, would you go out and purchase a new hat for 70+ dollars?

I cant be the first one on the crack-pipe (flightinfo) to ask this question..

someone has to know where to get some freaking eggs..

Do you go out an buy a new car when you get a flat tire? You must be a cheep bastard if you replace parts on your car and you dont go buy a new one?

Do you go out an buy a new suit if you lose a few pounds?

Do you go out an buy a new...

you see where this is going

You could always do what one of the captains at the outfit I use to work at...

He bought the little kiddies' captain hat at the airport gift shop. Cut the scrambled eggs off the lid and glued them on to his F/O hat.

Hope that helps.... good luck.

Denny's has the best breakfast IMHO. Just can't find one near my house.

Waffle House scares the begeebees out of me, kind of like an FNG FO, only without the prison tattoos.

The Red Lion in SLC had some good stuff, too.

Just make sure your airline wears the scrambled eggs and not the olive leaf before you buy those stick on jobs......you'll look like a dumbass if everyone else is wearing something completely different...

What is this "hat" thing that you all keep referring to? I'm not familiar with it.

And I have to disagree with Long Time Gone, IHOP is where it's at for breakfast.

Let's see, you're a hat manufacturer in business to make money. You could develop an aftermarket product that will net you a few bucks, or you can sell your customer a whole new hat.

Which option are you going to choose?

There are no "aftermarket" Captain's hat kits for precisely this reason.

Quit being a cheapskate and spend some money to look like a professional.:D

Both of these companies make a quality product, the Bernards are probably the best of the two. I've worn the Bancroft product at the airlines and the Bernard in the Air Force.

PS- If you glue embroidered baseball cap scrambled eggs on the visor of your FO's hat, you're going to look like a tremendous dork, and we will be laughing at you, not with you.
