I've been offered a PTOC position at ameriflight on the metro, anyone have any experience with this that can shed any light????

They need you, you work. They don't need you, you don't.

I'm not very bright, but what is PTOC? I've been running every acro that I know and ending up with nothing. Thanks

Thanks transmach, but that isn't much help....do you work for ameriflight, or have you ever? I'm trying to get an Idea of what the flexability is, can you do day trips or are you going to have to commit to multiple day trips every time you make yourself available etc.

Ameriflight doesn't have many, if any at all multiple day trips. Most trips involve a day layover but you do return to your home base at night. There are some trips that do not involve a layover but they aren't as common. I would assume if you are on call, they would expect you to fly whenever/wherever they need you.

You might want to consider calling back the pilot recruiter, or someone else in Burbank and see if you can get more information out of them before taking or not taking the job.

Good Luck!

Now, it's been many years since I've been there, but PTOC is exactly what Transmach stated...they call you if they need you, don't call you if they don't. You don't HAVE to commit to multiple day trips. You can tell them you can only do X number of days this week, this month, etc.. They will likely want to know when you are available...what days of the month...and will call you if they need you. Be forewarned...they WILL call you on very short notice at times.

Just curious...are you current/qualified in the 227, or are they going to type you?

they are going to type me on it....how is their training? acording to the pilot recruiter I could tell them what days I was available, but I'm wondering how cooperative they are with you.
thanks for all of your input

Thanks for the info,

Just out of curiosity, are they running the metros single pilot or are they using SIC's? Also, are they still giving single pilot types? Thanks
