Holy Cow! Pretty messy but who knows what the weahter was like but if it was that bad it would be a day i wouldnt be doing T & G's on.

I'm thinking it was a bit of a crosswind and the pilot was trying to really maintain centerline. I'd say the camera just exaggerated the inputs as I'm sure we don't feel those corrections for the most part...just my .02

What was the scary part of that video? Here I am sitting on the couch waiting for something scary to happen and I watch a plane land. Can someone tell me what was scary about that approach?

I'm with you, this is pretty normal training.

I second that. Tamest video ever.

Yeah, perhaps "scary" was a bit strong. Admittedly I'm very low time, but it seemed weird w/ the flat approach and large amounts of yaw.

yep, the only thing I saw was a shallow approach.

Hence the high anxiety. The old CFI in me kept reaching for power and pushing on the pedals. And waiting for something to pop UP in the windscreen.

Geez people I had to watch that video twice to look for the "scary" part. I still don't see what anyone is talking about. Maybe a little low at one point but looks like the runway was pretty short so you don't want to be landing a 1/3 of the way down the runway especially if you're doing TNGs.

Why would a normal appch cause you to float 1/3 down the rwy?

Yeah, I wouldn't consider that first vid scary at all... Plus if its gusty in a small airplane, the nose can swing around quite a bit, all accentuated by the camera, though. Just alittle low on the approach, that's all... Like someone else said, all a normal part of training...

Another day in the life of your friendly neighborhood CFI. There's a number of students who couldn't pull that off at 50 hours.
