Until special interest lobbying is outlawed(which will be never because then politician's would have to start funding their own campaigns), nothing is going to change in this industry. The airline lobbyist's pockets are much deeper than ALPA or any other union for that matter. And, until the unsuspecting public wants to start paying 20-50% more for their already bargin basement airfares(again never), there simply won't be enough money leftover after executive bonuses are paid out to increase the quality of pilot contracts. So, what we'll continue to get is the "band aid on a shot gun wound" approach from Congress and the FAA in regards to fixing the real underlying problems that caused last years tragedy and the current upheavel over this industries training practices.
Oh yeah.....and to the actual point of this thread, that letter was stupid and uninformative. I'm sorry Begal. I'm all for supporting fellow pilots. But that thing only gives management teams more ammo on their quest to portray airline pilots as useless button pushers who don't deserve what they already have.
