Heading to the Dominican Republic next month for 4 days and have never been. Squared away with emer. survival kit, charts, etc.. I already got the info on communications from Miami Center sect 4. Just wondering about handling/no handling. Who to use if we do need a handler, etc... I do a ton of Mexico every year, but never into the caribbean. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks...

Air Routing Intl is a great company for handling..

off nbaa database circa '03:

Trip arrangements through Universal. Servair did excellent job handling local needs including ride to and from hotel. Fuel measured in US gallons. No problems operating in or out of airport. Need 5 general decs inbound. Servair provided 5 gd s outbound. Large FBO ramp. Stayed at Renaissance Jarangua hotel. 45 minute ride from airport.Excellent hotel staff, nice rooms.

used to go to santo domingo monthly for a few years from 95-99. Call Servair directly and arrange your handling. Do not use Universal unless your owner is willing to part with the usual "Universal" many thousand dollar bill. Used to be a man by the name of "Jimmy" who ran the operation there. He lived in the US for many years and handled everything with ease with just a phone call and fax. Take hium out to dinner onen night and he was always happy! We always stayed at the Jaragua Hotel. Casino right in the hotel and nice pool area. We used to always get the rooms in the back area, as our owner stayed in the tower rooms. A restaurant in town I believe called "the cave" is awesome. and just out the back gate of the hotel rooms in the back is a nice bar with some possible "in-room entertainment" for the crew. (I've just heard about it!!)

Have fun! and Santo Domingo back then ,had what I believe the roughest runway surface in world. They were talking about redoing the surface back then. You couldn;t here the other pilot calling out v speeds through all of the noise of the nose gear over the runway.

Thanks for the replies, its much appreciated. I'll call servair when I get back from mex, see if Jimmy is still there.
