Thursday, May 15, a hearing will be held on the Temporary Restraining Order issued April 28 by Judge George WU in U.S. District Court. The TRO enjoined the City of Santa Monica from enforcing a ban on aircraft of approach categories C and D at SMO. You can get updates on the results of the hearing at www.santamonicaairport.org.

This could be fun.

Can't land there anyway

Meanwhile, and regardless of the outcome, and no matter what you’re flying, always consider the 1.2% down slope for runway 21. Most likely you’ll be unable to land under FAR 135.

FLOPS just went through a learning experience for their “pilot pushers” trying to get pilots to land with pax at SMO against the better judgment of the crew.

More info please on what happened.

Can't post it here. All I can say is run the numbers through Ultranav. Check the results and stick to your guns.

The 1.2% downslope is posted on NOS charts and has to be calculated on Jepps. Most pilots and PSMs have overlooked it in the past.

CS has an 80% rule instead of the 60%, so no problem there.
