I'm gonna have to go with Cardinal on this one. If you have control of the aircraft you should steer clear of innocent bystanders.

BTW, Cardinal is not from GIA.

Ever stop to think that maybe the pilot was dead or unconscious before the plane ever hit the ground? Or that perhaps the smoke was so thick he couldn't see the instruments let alone outside? I'm sure he didn't aim for the houses.

CNN.com is now reporting that the fire was being fed by all the jet fuel pouring out of the wreckage.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since when did a Cessna 310 run on jet fuel?

How is it that military guys, saddled with lousy glide ratios, always seem to get the aircraft pointed towards a safe area? Or the F-16 pilot a few months ago who rode it in, expending his life for the safety of others?

So why do countless GA morons (And the Pinnacle toolboxes) manage to centerpunch houses, schoolyards, and apartment buildings? YOU assumed the risk when you took off, not the bystanders on the ground. If there is even the slightest doubt about clearing that next line of houses or orphanages, take one for the team and nosedive into the ditch/gully/road/whatever.

This deal is just nauseating. The dead people are the lucky ones. This poor 10 year old was eating his Cheerios one second and was burnt to a crisp the next second. The pain and suffering has only just begun for him.http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/seminole/orl-bk-burnedboy1007jul10,0,746453.story? A great contribution to aviation today.

Monday morning quarterbacking before all the facts are in? Sure. I'm guilty. But it's quite clear the game was lost.

FIRST OFF F*&K YOU YOU PIECE OF CRAP!

Mike Klem was a friend of mine and one hell of a damn good pilot and not some GA moron! You could'nt carry his jock strap! Your arrogance is unbelieveable.
God forbid the day you do something wrong and you will. Did you not read that they had smoke in the cockpit. That was the last transmission according to ATC. I will gaurantee you that if Mike could have put it in Lake Monroe or the trees he would have!

Next time think before you open your pie hole and insert both of your feet

Yeah, I saw the interview of the fireman who was the first responder...he said 100s of gallons of jet fuel were pouring out of the second floor. Not exactly what he was talking about. I don't doubt the fire was intense. But that was prob. a water pipe that broke.

Real shame to hear about this what a loss.

Its easy for us to say what he should have done, or what we would have done. bottom line, we have NO idea what was going on when he was at the controls. It was a C310. It would be easy to get lost in an airplane like that with smoke in the cockpit, having to worry about fuel, control cables, or not enough time to get on the ground while trying to breath through smoke. I feel for the family and friends that lost someone in this tragic accident.

Always a sad event when a fellow aviator goes down.

Equally sad when the media vultures pounce on it before the fires have even gone out.

Are you really that big of an idiot? Do you really think that this pilot, or ANY pilot for that matter, really intended to put his plane into a few houses and kill bystanders? You make me sick.

The guy was a doctor for christ's sake. His job is to help people. Regardless, you think he intended to harm those on the ground?

You have no idea if his plane fell apart and was uncontrollable, if he was conscious, or if he could even see.

I am glad we have superpilots like you to keep all of us from intentionally killing others. Thanks for YOUR contribution to aviation.

True.

However, from my interpretation of Cardinal's post, he was speaking in general. It did not seem to me that he was giving any Monday morning QB'n.

I think everyone needs to just cool it.

This plane stopped at by the airport I work at the day before the crash. According to the other line guys the pilot was "running 300 mph". He was in such an unbelievable hurry. Next morning he goes down. I know they are saying it was an emergency but perhaps he didn't take the necessary time to accurately complete the preflight.
