I'm trying to get a ballpark figure for a position as a SIC on a Beechjet 400a for a part 91 operation in the south eastern U.S. I've already taken a look at some non-aviation specific job sites, but I thought you folks might have a better idea. The NBAA has their annual salary survey, but I thought I'd try to get the same information without having to shell out the money.

Thanks!

Wide range in the SE, Sadly most in the area are taking their cues from the RJ's. I have seen anywhere from 45k all the way down to 18k offered for a similar position. Mostly toward the bottom lately.

If you notice, you will see many more young guys in the left seats of the Citations and B-400 sized airplanes lately. I can only think of about 3 in my area that are getting more than 50k for the left seat.

There are good jobs out there, but they are fewer and fewer everyday.

Oddly enough I see higher pay scales around here for turboprops on average than I do jets. I guess it is because the kids are all hot after the jets and will fly them cheap so that the higher time more expensive guys end up in the King Airs and similar. I know a guy that flys a Cirrus for more than half the jet Captains around here do!

I interviewed for a 91/135 Beechjet SIC position in the SE about a year ago. Pay would have been about $42k.

I get $33k, that's what the avcrew salary survey said.

I hate that survey. And I'm typed.

Surveys are good for entertainment and reference, but the only 1 that is going to be a true representation of what the market commands is the Stanton Group's survey. They go to hand picked flight Depts and get data from HR instead of letting anyone send in some BS figures. An example: If your boss sends in a low ball figure to NBAA, avcrew, propilot, he just tanked the figures, and they have no way of knowing whether or not he is telling the truth, or if he even works for a flight dept for that matter.
