Everyone has heard the question of .... "WWYD if the capt. continues below mins"
In an interview, not real world, how exactly should this be answered? The interviewer is looking to see if u think things through and if u will speak up in the interest of safety. At all cost, u definitely don't want to be fighting over the controls that low to the ground. I have talked with some people who have passed their interviews lately who were asked this question. Most people say that u call out MINS. Stating it again and again. Eventually calling the tower and stating.... MISSED APPROACH.
If the capt. still continues, u are now in a situation that affects the safety of flight. In the interest of safety, should u take to controls and ease the throttles forward since u are so close the the ground w/out vis. This could lead to a confrontation over control of the aircraft. This again could be dangerous at such a low alt. In both cases...pushing the throttles/not pushing them both could affect the safety of flight.
The pilot that I spoke about in the above paragraph said that he would help the captain land the plane. This is good and all but u are going down blind. That can't be safe.
In real world, this approach shouldn't have been attempted if the wx was this bad. And this could have been avoided if the approach was briefed well, putting both people on the same page. I would like to know what people's thoughs are about this whole safety of flight situation where either way u go...the safety of flight is in question. How should I address this question in an interview if it comes up?
