Saw from the terminal what appeared to be a Saab freighter painted all white with large "cargo" titles and smaller titles that I couldn't make out parked on the Comair FBO ramp. Anyone know who's operating it ?
Tail 340LS or something like that? Saw it at Bangor a week ago, they were just using the "Saab" callsign, and from the way it climbed they were empty. Looked too clean and shiny to be anything other than a demonstrator.
Theyre new but its very difficult to sell it.
We were approached by the vendors, awsome contract, would be a really good plane. believe it or not its actually cheaper to operate than a 1900d.
deal was this
-1 year lease FREE, then you start paying for it.
-parts room stocked for FREE...you just give them money when you use something from it, that way you have it and no wait.
PROBLEM...if it sits, it breaks. it likes to fly ALOT. 7 hours a day or so like an airline. if it sits then a gasket fails or seepage enters somethign it shouldnt where otherwise it wouldnt happen when running. freighters fly on average only 700 - 1000 hours a year of that size anyway. way too less for the saab. itll rot.
Who was the vendor? I contacted Saab last year (post 9/11) about leasing a Saab and the costs were outrageous...I'd like to still pursue the gig, can you send me the info?
