Ok what is the importance of RVR in terms of touchdown, midfield, and rollout? Under 135 if two out of three are broken (midfield & rollout) can you still shoot a approach with the TDZ RVR working? How about if the approach requires 1800 RVR and the TD is 1800 and the mid is 1600 and the rollout is 1600? Do all RVR systems have TD, Mid and rollout? Or is it just TD?

Never seen this addressed in the FARs or the AIM.

Appreciate it.

This is usually addressed in each operator's OpsSpecs. But in general terms, for Cat I the touchdown zone RVR is controlling. For Cat II and Cat III, the company's OpsSpecs will specifiy to what RVR and how many transmissometers are required and which are controlling.
