In a RVR system do ALL airports have TD, MID and rollout RVR sensors? Or can they just have a TD/Mid or just TD? Does it depend on the what the airport needs? The reason I ask is that I have noticed some airports to have the 6 rvr and then some only have the adequate reference value at 1600 RVR or 1/4. Do these airports only have TD and MID? Or do all airports with RVR have all three sensors?

I'm not sure I understand all of your question, but My airport has all three on the CatIII runway, but the CatI runway only has TD and Rollout sensors. I would guess that most (if not all) Cat III runways have all three sensors.

In a nutshell I am asking if all RVR systems have all three sensors? TD, MID, Rollout or can some only have certain ones? I am guessing this effects takeoff minmiums because for 666 you need TD MID Rollout or one of the two if anyone is inop.

The answer to your question is "no". Some RVR systems have only touchdown, some have touchdown and rollout, and others have all three. Some one, some two, some three.

Where can I find what a particular airport has? Where does it specify on the jepps or Noaas?

Thanks

10-9 page on the jepps

Jepps 10-9 page. Usually below the airport diagram under Departure proceedures. Also with the runway description, lighting, type of pavement, slope, etc.

NOAA: If I recall it is in a seperate section at the front or the back. It is harder to work with. Not all the info is in the same section as the JEPPS.

Thats just lists "RVR" for a particular runway. It does'nt say which RVR sensors are present for that runway.

I don't think there is a way to find out, except to ask each individual tower or airport authority specifically. I don't know of any list, and it certainly isn't on any approach plate or airport diagram that I have seen.

I guess you could always look when you are taxiing down the runway. Next generation RVR systems are about 10 feet tall, and usually have an orange or white pole. It looks like somone took a pair of binoculars, sliced them in half and pointed them looking at each other with about three feet in between.
