A fews years back I was out at Van Nuys Airport and came across the 'Rubber Bandit'. It is a rubber band powered airplane. This guy was building it and was going to be the first person to fly a rubber band powered airplane.

If I remember correctly, it was in a T-hangar down by West Jet FBO.

Does anyone know if the project was ever completed or is it still being built? Did it ever make its maiden flight?

From the Rubberbandit.org website.

"13 September 2000

Rubber Bandit progress is being made and an appropriate amended update will be available within seven (7) days."

I was unable to find any later reference to the project. THe project must have died for some reason. A shame I thought it was kinda cool in a silly sort of way.
