Now that all of the US legacy carriers have merged, could it be possible for round two? That is, let's say UsAirway merge with Delta? I know it's feasible but what are the chances? Does one airline have the purchasing power to do this? If so, who would be likely partners?
Just asking, not flaming!

Whatever benefit a purchase of USAirways would be is quickly negated by their labor problems. No one in their right minds wants to touch that mess.

I think USAir's best bet would be trying to merge with Frontier/RAH, maybe even toss Spirit into the mix as a possible partner.

United is still a potential merger parter.

You guys read way too much into labor disputes holding things up. The people that put these deals togther don't care and they figure that a merger is going to result in some degree of labor discontent anyway.

The USAir DCA operation would be a gem for United to pick up (assuming the DAL/US slot swap goes through and the DOT would allow a UAL/US combo). PHL/EWR might canibalize traffic a bit

I think AA will have to at least attempt a merger/acquisition before anyone else has a reasonable chance at a DOJ/DOT merger approval. With that said, I see AA grabbing JB, or maybe a piece of USAir.
