Tests on passenger-carrying flights could begin by the end of the year, says Homeland Security spokesman Brian Doyle.

I think they missed the robo-pilot reference. Secure digital data up-link and other technologies are coming, whether pilots like it or not.

The country cannot afford to have another 9/11 type terrorist attack and obviously, if Air Marshals can assume a muttering not job has a bomb in a knapsack and shoot them, then there's definitely some serious doubt on the government's part as to whether or not our security screening can prevent other similar events.
