This is a dup. post from another thread, sorry in advance. Don't know that this is the right place for this question, but seems to be the a good. I used to fly cargo out of ELP, but never made it far enough north tto know the answer.

I've got to take a T-6 from Carson City to Atlanta in a couple of weeks. Can anyone suggest a good route out of the high country? Right now I'm planning a fairly simple route that looks like:

KCXP, Coaldale(OAL), Beatty(BTY), KHND(vegas).

Then down to El Paso by way of:

KHND, Bullhead City, Avi Suquilla(P20)[near Havasu)], Gila Bend(GBN), Tuscon(TUS), Douglas(DUG), KELP.

Then no sweat to Atlanta. I used to fly cargo around the southwest so I know what I'm dealing with when I get around Gila Bend. I'm really just trying to stay away from seroius mountains as much as possible and these routes seem to stay firmly over the valleys. Thoughts?

Thanks!

Rno-atl

I flew a 182 RNO-ATL a few years ago and I think I went RNO-Bullhead city-casa grande AZ-Deming NM- Pecos, Tx I think that routing takes you over the lowest terrain. Also on the leg RNO-Bullhead city I think you have to swing a little west to avoid Nellis and their associated airspace.

Thanks for the info. I think it's a little bit better just to the south of Casa Grande-->Deming. I used to go between TUS and ELP a lot and I know it pretty well. Looks like we'll use the same way out of RNO, though. Thanks!

Keep the ideas a comin....
