Sennheiser HMEC25 series or the Telex Airman 500? I'm stuck between both right now. Don't want anything that fit's in my ear. The clamps keep the jungle jet quiet but after not working for 2 months my head is tired of those things after 1 trip.

Also anyone know anywhere you can try headsets for a day? I guess I could just buy them both and then send the pair I didn't like back.

I just bought the Sennheiser HMEC25KA, arriving in the mail friday, get to use em Saturday :D I tried em once on loan and they were really comfy.

I used the Telex headsets in a different life with a different plug, but same headsets... they wear on ya real quick and get uncomfy plus they break VERY easily.

just my $0.02

I'll be the first to say it... Bose! If you fly 1,000 a year, it's $1 per hour. If you use it for five years it's $0.20 per hour. You can't afford not to buy it.

I don't think he wants clamps of any type. I have Boses. They are clampy. And After wearing them for almost 6 hours straight (save for a fuel stop) in the Citation, I decided that I really hope I don't get placed in a turboprop at a regional because my ears got so sore afterwards. I use them as a CFI and they're as good as you can get in any prop. But I'd gladly take a quieter airplane and a sennheiser or Telex airman! Used them on a trip when someone left em in the airplane, and I didn't feel nearly as sh***y after the trip. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky, though.

Yes, I would like to avoid "clamps" if all possible. The Sennheiser is less than 6 ounces and the Telex are 7, the Bose's are twice as heavy.

I second that. I had em on over 8 hours 1 day and my ears did not bother me at all. Might sweat if you got a hot cockpit..as far as "clamps"...it all depends on the shape of your head with the Bose. love mine!!

Anybody tried the LightSPEED Mach 1? I know you said you didn't want anything going in your ear, but the Mach 1 seems like a pretty nice little headset.

I know a guy that had them and he liked them... Sometimes the earbud fell out but other than that they were good. I still couldn't do it.

I think I'm just going to order both pairs before my next trip and send the ones I don't like back.
