rest rules under threat

The House guy that attached this to the FAA bill wants to create special rest rules for cargo and charter flying.

The Senate version didn't have this, and Obama said he will veto the bill if it contains the anti-union stuff in it that the House also added (the anti-union stuff was not in the Senate version).

What is the role for government?

And please try to stick to something that is both successful and reality based...

Here's a good example of one proper role:

You can fly anywhere in this country and drink a glass of water out of the hotel tap and not get sick.

Like national defense, police, fire, flood control, highways and navigable waterways, etc., there are some areas where governmental action is preferable to private enterprise. But anything can be taken too far.
 
Completely agree Tom. There must be a balance- but there is an increasing tone in this country from the right that ALL government is bad. We can debate where that balance lays, but in trying to make gains in the less govt corner, to say that government is always a problem and never a solution is naive at best
