Any XJET guys out there know how many reserve lines there are out of EWR? Just trying to get a gauge of what is currently offered in the bid packages. I start March 8th for initial and expect will be assigned EWR out of training.

Thanks for the help!!

Everyone gets a reserve line and you will have 11 days off and a 75 hour guarantee.

Hopefully it won't be too long before I can hold a regular line. But I won't hold my breath!!

Cheers

Don't complain on that board--be happy you have a job. And, with the amount of new hiring that will go on--you should be a line holder soon I assume....

Bye Bye--General Lee;)

No complaints here!! I am just feeling out the amount of reserve lines and how long I should plan on being on reserve. Hard to say where everyone will go out of training. Many say that IAH will be the place for the growth but if EWR is the junior base I figure I have a better chance holding a line quicker there. Either way I am commuting from ATL and EWR-ATL has better service but will have to deal with the weather come winter so who knows. I figure if I am not going to make a lot of money I want to at least fly and help the time go by instead of sitting around waiting to be called.

The only problem with ATL-EWR commute is that VERY senior CAL guys commute there. Since all the flights are CAL 737s those guys get first dibs on the jumpseat. There are a lot of EWR 777 and 756 guys that live in ATL. But, this June I will be in the same boat as I will be upgrading to EWR Captain.

Frats,

hey jrcpilot

Hey all jrcpilot, I was wondering if you could me out.
I applied online 1-29-04 on a whim, just checking stuff out. Didn't really believe anything would come of it. Then I start hearing about all this hiring and I talked to few buddies @coex and they said now was the time! I called back last week and they asked me several questions and had me read back a PA announcement about getting de-iced. They then said they would call me in 30-90 days for more. My questions are: Is there really a chance of me getting an interview this way? Should I have a friend walk my stuff in? Will it help? I've read about 4 phases of the interview and was wondering is anybody out there has been through this recently. Any feedback would be appreciated. -Thanks

Capt. Caucasian,

Do you live in ATL as well? Have you had any problems jumpseating on anyone else such as Delta. I will have DL non-rev priveleges so I am not too concerned about the commute but when push comes to shove the jumpseat will be my only other option.

Thanks

Right now I live in BHM, but I am from Newnan (actually the big golf ball on I-85 south) and plan on moving back when my wife finishes school.

Did you ever fly at FFC? I instructed there for a while five or so years ago and I remember flying with a bunch of Delta GS instructors. And back at my former airline we used the 737 sims at Delta for our training. I had a few Delta guys train me (including my Dad) so we probably know a few of the same folks or might have even bumped into each other.

As far as the ATL commute goes, getting to EWR can be difficult at time on CAL. The reason is because there are quite a few senior CAL guys that commute on those flights. Also, I have found that jumpseating on Delta is almost always far more friendlier. Back before 9/11 the crew would know my Dad and I would get a response like, "hey, I used to swing gear for your Pop, why don't you ride up here with us and hang out!" Or, maybe they just did not want me to sit in First Class :). I wish I still had my Delta benefits because I would use those far more than my CAL ones to commute.

Frats,
"Former" IAH FO Rep turned line grunt

PS: if you want my email or phone number ask anyone in IAH. All 900+ of them should know it!

Popular guy you are,
I have flown in and out of there quite a bit actually. Never did any instruction there. Do you know Leo Giles? or Tim Burke? There are a ton of GS guys down there fartin around with their airplanes. Thanks for the info on the commuting. I expect I will use my bennies from DL. I will lose my bennies in June but will pick up my fiance's so that will be nice. They have the best non-rev bennies in the industry. Hard to believe that the CAL guys are not as helpful to the XJET guys? Maybe its just because its difficult between ATL-EWR? Who knows. I don't like getting into the politics of all that. I just want on the airplane whether its in the JS or in the back or F/C. I am sure we know some mutual folks. If your Dad worked for DL as a pilot then at least your a legacy and have a good shot at getting on at DL when the hiring resumes. I too hope to come back when that happens. Just don't expect it to happen anytime soon. Take care and hope to see you on the line sometime.

regards
