I'm 29 and just starting the process. Is it even worth my time, and will any units even give me the time of day due to my age?

Most won't look at you but you never know. Same as active duty, you must start UPT by your 30th birthday(without a waiver). The process will take more that a year. In fact, most units hire 1-2 years ahead of when you'd attend training. I've heard the Army Warrant Officer program age is higher...34 maybe?

It's hard enough to get a slot in the guard/reserves without anything working against you. I'm not gonna say it's impossible, but by the time you'd be getting to UPT, you'd probably be closing in on 32. That's gonna be a tough one to get a waiver for...

good luck

Keep up the press. Age waivers are possible but few in number. I went through UPT at 32. But then again I had a military aviation background to help my case. In short don't give up until they say 'no'. And by 'they' I mean every unit that's hiring. Good luck.
