I'm going to Florida Institute of Technology to get my PPL this summer. I was looking at local FBOs, however it was not possible option for me. Anyway, in the packet that I received today, it says i'm going to fly total 35 hours with 5 hours of solo time. I thought FAA requirement requires more total time and solo time. Has the rule changed lately?

141 schools ...

Less time.

check the regulations for doing the training under part 61, you will see the difference.

Ok

So I'll have no problem with getting PPL.... right?

Thanks for you reply!

FIT has a very good program, you will be in good hands and won't have a problem.

good luck,

Expect to go over that 40-hour number they gave you...unless you're last name is Yaeger.

That is the bare minimum, and the vast majority of people on these boards wil tell you it took them some extra flying to be ready for the ride. I want to say an extra 5-10 hours, but it was a while ago and I can't remember exactly what myself and other classmates did.

The average time to complete the PPL is around 55 to 65 hours. Some people can do it in less time if they are able to fly everday and have no interuptions in thier training. Having the last name of Yeager is no different from having Andretti as a last name. I submit John Andretti as proof that having a famous last name doesn't automatically give you talent.

We'll see

We'll see how much that 200 hrs in Falcon 4.0 will help me getting my PPL this summer...lol...

P.s:BTW, my last name is Kim... does that help at all?? lol
