The little section below was taken from the "remarks" portion of a METAR:

AO2 CIG 003V008 P0000=

I know there is a variable ceiling between 300' and 800' AGL, but what does the "A02" and the P0000=" mean???

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

automated with precipitation discriminator and the P is your precip in tenths of inches, so P0000, no precip in the last hour

One of the things I did, and this is something I still use, is scan various weather product definitions into the PC. Then cut and paste to build a comprehensive weather report translation card which includes all METAR, TAF, PIREP, Prog, etc. symbols and abbreviations. I formatted it to the size of one folded 8.5 x 11 card with info front and back, laminated with Office Depot clear adhesive sheets, and I carry it in my flightbag. Since I'm still working thru the ratings, I need to stay fresh on the undecoded DUATS info, as opposed to just printing plain-language reports (which is very tempting :D).

Sounds like a very good idea. Thanks for passing that along.

My thoughts egg-zack-lee. I was just trying to extend some mercy and grace after his knuckle-head comments about the Pope on another thread.:rolleyes:
