Looking into relocating to the eastern PA area. Anyone have any information concerning:

1) Real estate prices and trends
2) Good school districts
3) Transportation options to/from NYC
4) Qaulity of life for a young family

Hard to answer without knowing where you are coming from for price comparrisons (i.e. if you are coming from Silicon Valley, it is cheap cheap cheap~ Coming from Charleston, West Virginia, no so cheap). What sort of an income are you figuring on? There are some great school districts but the homes in them can be pricey. Eastern PA is sort of a big area. Plenty of transportation to NYC from Philadelphia, not so much from Pottsville. Be more specific than just "eastern pa". What airport will you be out of?
