What are some of the interactions or lack thereof, where pilots from multiple regionals are forced to use the same crewroom? Do you interact with pilots from other regionals or do you stake out your own "turf"? Is there animocity and rude comments and stares made to the pilots of "competing" regionals in the same crewroom?

Yep - we go find a corner of the crewroom and pee on it so that nobody else comes near our territory so we can sleep on the couch instead of having a crashpad.

Funny you mention that. In PHL we carry quite a few AWAC crewmembers and a fair amount of them say that they actually do sleep in their crewroom vs. getting a crashpad.

727,
In PHL and ORF (possibly DCA as well) there are a fairly large number of commuters that sleep in the crewrooms. In PHL we have an AWAC only crewroom but there is also a shared US Airways express crewroom. I haven't noticed any animosity in the crewroom but people are people. We hang out with people we know for the most part. I think we are all too tired to waste energy on hating other airlines crewmembers while at work.

AWACoff

MCO....CMR, CHQ and Freedumb/Mesa, in that closet of a crew room. It is going to be a reality TV show soon.

I actually like getting to interact w/ the crews from other airlines. They are all cool people and it's nice to get their perspective on everything. The only notable exception, of course, is ORD. TSA/G0-Jet share a crewroom w/ everyone else, and there's more than just a little tension. Sorry, I had to throw in the obligatory g0jet referrence :-]

My experience is that regional crews tend to simply ignore each other. Seemed to be the case everywhere I've been... PIT, PHL, CLT, IAD, ORD.

I remeber the old PIT crewroom back in 98ish in the E gates. Seemed like every airline had its own table. Never saw any fights though. I do miss PIT though. Great airport to kill time and have good Chinese food.

There was a rather amusing attempted turf war over the E-gates crew room. One faction became territorial and the other faction didn't care. However, I do remember how the room would get quiet and everyone would glare at you if you sat at one of "their" tables. I enjoyed that game.
