Currently with regional as 7 yr captain on RJ. Wondering if anyone left regional to go this route?

Plenty including a number of Indy Air people recently. The pay is better, the equipment is nicer and the schedule (once you can hold it - and excluding Flexjet) is preferred by many people. I am not a frax pilot, but I know a few who are and they enjoy it (and appreciate the new NJA deal). If I were you, I would target Netjets and CS for now.

Lots of us before you have chosen this route. I did it a few months ago and i'm not looking back. I am so far very pleased with my decision, I have been treated extremely well by my new employer. In my newhire class there were 29 of us and I would say that 20 of those came from various different regional carriers. But if you are "waiting to fly the really big ones" it might not be the place for you as we dont have any (well not really big). However if you have no problem with loading bags, cleaning airplanes, and generally doing alot more than at the regional level then the benefit far outweigh the negatives (to me anyway). I would second the motion that NJA or CS is probably the way to go right now. Depends on where you live. Feel free to PM me if I can help.

I wouldn't stay at a regional even if i was a 15yr capt.......I'd hate to read in the paper that my airline is closing.

Netjets is the only place to go

unless united hires me as a 747 captain for 500,000 per year

5th year RJ CA now in training with NJ. After doing a lot of thinking about my options and taking into account I would be losing at least 20 to 25 thousand a year until I upgrade here, whenever that ends up being, it was still the best choice for me.

Good job. What aircraft were you offered and what aircraft were other people in your class offered?

I am seriously busting my arse to try and build my total time up so i can try and get on with Netjets or CS asap. Are people getting hired at either of those without Turbine PIC?

No longer waiting to fly the really big ones! Just wan't good quality of life and little stability. Thanks for all the info so far, keep it coming.

There were a few Excels (including me), a couple of Falcons, at least one Hawker 800, and a couple of Citation Xs offered to the guys who interviewed with me last month. Guys and gals are being put into everything since the bypassed FOs are leaving all the airplanes for CA slots in whatever they can hold since the pay is such a big difference now. The airline I left wasn't furloughing, but I have to say I have serious doubts about a continued career with the airlines. I don't know anyone at anywhere bigger or better on the airline side and NJ appears to be a bit more stable right now. Even the worst schedule here will be better than anything I have been able to hold as a regional CA and the benefits are as good as it gets anywhere now. I'll miss the jumpseat and the pay until I upgrade here, but I hope it will be my last job. It wasn't an easy choice, but I think it was the best one.
