Can everyone please give me their opinion on who is the best regional to work for right now? I 'm most interested in who is growing the most and compensation. I was recently furloughed from ACA and i'm trying to make the best educated guess on where to go. Thanks for your help.

In this market, the best one is the one that offers you a job.

This is generally correct but be sure you can live with the working conditions wherever you go. Some places (like Colgan) are strictly places to build time and move on. If you get one of those jobs you might want to take it anyway and keep looking for a better situation.

Who's growing the most? That's easy. Mesa. Guess why you're furloughed - UA gave your flying to TSA, Skywest, and Mesa. Mesa picked up at least 100 RJ's in the last 2 weeks, flies for HP, F9, US, UA, and YX (highly diversified). They, however, are not nearly the highest compensated, and their work rules are a bit below what you're used to. :)

Highest comp is what, CMR? Not much growth there though.

I'd guess the top regional to work for would be Skywest. Good growth, diversified (DL, UA, CO), good relations with managment, and good compensation (not great, but good). Unfortunately, you don't have ALPA dues to pay there. :)

ASA and Wisky aren't bad bets either. That being said, whoever hires you is still the best.

UNfortunately?

Sounds to me like the best reason I can think of to fire off a resume.

ALPA: "We've got ours. Screw you!"

One wise pilot from CommuteAir once told me when I was a freight dog for Ram Air and I am glad that he said it to me was to search only for regionals that have jets in their fleet. Point taken I got hired by Express Airlines I now called Pinnacle first flying SAABs and now CRJs.

Good luck!

One wise pilot told me once,

"Dont be in such a hurry to fly jets. There is a lot of valuable experience to be gained slogging around below 10,000 in turboprops. "

I was kidding, otto. Man, I guess nobody gets sarcasm anymore.

Oh, and TP's fly above 10,000 too. Way higher.

That being said, RJ's mean growth potential in this market. As Peidmont and Allegheny (spelling?) have learned, not having RJ's isn't a great idea. I wouldn't go to either of those 2 right now, unless their MEC's can convince PSA to merge the lists.

That way, as you either PFT, or take a job for the lofty sum of $19k, you can always rationalize it by telling yourself "But, at least I'm flying a JET!!".
