at Kit Darby's last little festival it seemed like the strong regionals were looking for better than 3000 TT.
Welcome back to the early 90s. Just a matter of time before Flightsafety starts dusting off the ol' PFT classrooms and pulls out the bags with the dollar-signs on them to store all of their new cash.
These days will pass. My "new hire" FO two weeks ago had more PIC time in our aircraft than I have total time, ( more than 4,000 hours ). Folks are still getting hired with around 1,000 and 200 multi if they work their connections.
The whole E120 retirement backlog should work through the system by September, or October. ASA should resume hiring this fall with approximately 20 airframes still coming for 04. At 5.5 crews per airplane, that is around 100 pilots, plus we will have 20 or more pilots leave the airline due to retirements and taking jobs with FedEx, Airtran, Jblue, etc...
Delta Connection is about to hit the scope limit again, so that could affect hiring. It all depends on what ALPA negotiates on behalf of the Delta pilots and the Delta pilots want to kill us if they can.
If DCI hits the scope limits I would imagine that the "amazing 2 year upgrade" that Comair was enjoying for a while slows back to a more realistic 5 - 7 yrs.
