Lets just say you have completed training, and have about 1500TT...
But you have no College Degree yet...Will they still hire you? I heard it's tough...I've even been on PilotJobs.com and check some of the requirements.
Some don't require it but it makes you more competetive if you have it?

Anyone know some who made it in then aquired this later??

I don't have a college degree, and I just got hired by one of the better regionals out there. I do however have ten years of operational experience within the aviation field. But in short no, not for a regional. I plan on finishing up my degree online however when I get the chance.

Ditto. Regionals aren't as picky about the degree.

Watch out for Pilotyip though... he'll lead you to belive you won't need one for tha $100K flying job.

Short answer.... get a B.A. degree in something outside of aviation. You'll broaden your understanding of yourself and this world. It also gives you something to fallback on should you lose your medical or leave flying for some other reason.

I'm kind of skeptical of online courses though. Sit in a classroom and interact. It adds to the learning process.

Better regional? MESA right.??? (((just kidding to all the mesa diehards out there))))) Hell, Comair isn't even one of the better regionals, tons of my pals are getting the shaft there daily. :( Poor bastards.

The regionals don't give a rat's ass if you have a degree or not. They need seat warmers for a few years. So get the hours you need, be a human and not a prick and you get the job. It's up to you not to get hired. That is, IF you want the job in the first place.:erm:

No degree required, but get one ASAP(something non-aviation related). Many wise pilots have told me have something to fall back on. This industry is nuts!

Nice to see you finally admit that a regional FO job sucks. And Comair is DCA's "flagship" airline, too. At least according to the leech and J'OB..."first tier" from the top management.

So, again, why are you STILL at DCA whoring yourself out for the "guaranteed" interview? You've admitted first hand that place blows, so step up to the plate, leave momma DCA and get a flying job that pays a living wage the real way...
Here's a novel thought! Never mind what I choose to do with my life! It's simply none of YOUR ********************ING BUSINESS!!!!

Congratulations on your plan to finish your degree, although I'm not too sure about online degrees at the airlines but I guess they will catch on. To answer the question, it will be hard to land a flying job at a REPUTABLE regional with no degree and next to impossible at a major, 100% of major pilots that were hired the last couple of hears have college experience, And about 90% have the 4year degree. Don't count on the pilot shortage that is said to come to relax the degree requirment, stay in school. Also to add, I'd say 60% have the 4year at my regional.
