I was thinking about applying to Netjets. Im at republic airlines on the Embraer 170. Im not exactly happy with life at a regional airline. Can you guys at Netjets give me some insights about why it is or isnt a better job than a regional airline. I would imagine it is a much better career choice than here. I would just like to hear some pros and cons. Thanks

It will be hard to find much that isn't better about NetJets than a regional. I think the only thing most people will cite as being better at a regional is jumpseating, but that's usually countered by free tickets courtesy of the frequent flier miles.

Put it this way, if you value pay, benefits, QOL, and having a week off at a time, you'll probably really enjoy it at NetJets. I came from a regional to NetJets over 2 years ago and honestly, I don't miss the 121 world. My wife really enjoys the set schedule (and pay) at NetJets much more than what I had previously.

You might try some searches on the fractional forum. This topic has been discussed before. But if you have other questions, please feel free to PM me.

Biggest difference is that they company cares about its pilots. This is because the pilots are pretty much the only company reps customers meet, they represent. Obviously you need happy employees to create a nice image. I'm not really sure if this applies at regionals.

QOL= 100% better.

Schedule= predictable on the 7n7. Your choice to go on reserve.

Equipment= like sports cars that are kept up pretty nice. leather and gold trim vs. chewed gum in the seat and old leather. Pretty goood perfromers too... like sports cars vs. mack trucks.

Control= you have way more control over your day in many ways.

Fatigue and safety policy= awesome.

Money= not bad in the left seat (for now), needs to improve in the right seat.

Type ratings for everyone... if that matters.

New guys need to report to one of 5 cities for duty (sux). Time will yield the next chapter in this story. Operations will dictate changes.

No gate agents/f/a's with PAs turned up to 11 out of 10 (excpet when you airline around).

Awesome variety of flying... more on your own... freedom.

Comercial flying covers 500 cities. NJA flies to over 5000. Private ranches and GA airports to IAH, DFW, etc.

Domestic (48 states, MX and CA) or Int'l (everywhere!).

No management whipsawing against other companies (NJI is apples/oranges).

Great group of guys.

Great bargaining power in the Union.

Awesome leadership in the Union.

Lots of work to do... come on over.

Forget the regionals... I was working for a major at one time... recall is coming and I'm not going back. No way.

My old CFI and a good friend was a captain at pennicle and after moving to Net Jets said he'd walk in anyones application anyday because he loves it there that much. He had 4k TT and 1K jet when he was hired.

Before I came to NJs, I heard that the worst part about the job is having to fly on the airliners. They were right.

Currently on my first 21 day vacation. Never had that at the airlines.

I just turned down recall at US Airways. No way I'm leaving NetJets. Job security and quality of life is much better. I've only heard of 1 NetJets pilot going back to a major airline, I think it was NWA.

What is this bloody QOL everyone keeps talking about? I want some of it, sounds pretty good but need more information before I decide!

You cant compare the QOL from Great Lakes to any other place. Great Lakes SUCKS!! Plus can you really call great lakes a regional? I would call it a sh!t hole.

Ohh how I dont miss great lakes!!!

Four star hotels, crew meals, courtesy and a little respect from almost everyone you talk to just for starters.

The pay is comperable to Airlines and the Benefits are excellent. (you can compare pay scales at airlinepilotcentral.com) Like FREE insurance coverage for your entire family including health, dental, and vision from day one. Also other kinds of insurance for a hugely discounted rate. Access to the MAYO clinic program for specialist.

Two weeks of vacation your first year which equals six weeks off if you are on the 7/7 schedule.

Knowing your schedule for the rest of your life not just month to month. If you are 7/7 you can bid just once if you want to. Your schedule will not change unless you want to bid again, upgrade or switch A/C. Say you start on Tuesdays. You will start on everyother Tuesday until infinity.

I think these are a few of the things that people mean by QOL.

PS these are all lies don't work here! It is a horrible place to work.
