A FA friend of mine lives in Phoenix and wants to pursue a career now as a pilot instead of a flight attendant. Any recomendation on a zero to hero program out there? private thru her mei n double i ? also someplace she could finish her degree and also stay and instruct to build her hours til she gets hired back at a regional some year? any info / insight would be appreciated.. ps shes 23 n hott =) thanks.

I haven't heard too many good things about any "zero to hero" program in Phoenix.

ASU has a flight program and there are several decent FBO type places..one of which I'm going through...but it's going through some changes and I'd have a problem giving them a solid recommendation right now.

There's an ATP at IWA...haven't heard anything but good things with them..and there's ASU east's campus in in the same area...if she lives in the East Valley, it might be her best bet.

If she's considering westwind, pan-am or chandler air service...encourage her to do some research before she makes her decision.

allright, man.... you can't make a statement like that and not back it up with a visual!! come on!!! let's see a picture of said "hott 23 year old FA"

She's going to have to drop a big chunk of change to get all those ratings. You ought to suggest she enlist in the Air Guard and use her GI bill to finance 60% of the part 141 min after her private. All of her tech school and BMT will count toward a college degree. Most people in the business respect military experience. It's a great way to start an aviation career even if she's not going to be a pilot for that guard unit. Great networking opportunities. Ask her to PM me. I've been a 99 for three years and I'm going to a flight school in Phoenix later this year to get my CFI.......So, she and I need to talk!!!

i agree thats a good program. i was an officer of marines my self. but this girl is not the military type.. even the salvation amy.. hell the brownies selling cookies for that matter would rattle her cage. my advice to her is to take the intro flight i bought her for xmas and get her private done before she gives up her senority/job for something she may decide is not for her. just trying to be supportive and point her in the right direction. thanks !

Post some cute Pics of this girl!!!

I agree with the above poster, stay away from the above schools, and let me list a couple more.

Stay away from:
Chandler Air Service (CHD) - Bad news all around.

CRM Airline Training Center (SDL) - Just lost part of their FAA certifications, and are on the brink of going out of business - owner is more interested in running his Citation Type Rating program then actually running a school - very poorly managed and ran.

Sawyer Aviation (SDL) - Bad news all around. From maintenance to management. I had a Examiner refuse to do a checkride with me because I was going to do it in one of their airplanes. Figure that out.

Pan Am / Westwind (DVT) - Been beat to death enough on this board, however from the students I know that have gone to Westwind, it isn't much different then Pan Am.

Any school out at Glendale Airport (GEU)

The above lists are not skeptical, I know either students or instructors that have worked/trained at each, and have first hand experience of what goes on there.

I would recommend try ATP out at Gateway (IwA), Mesa Air Pilot Development (IWA), or Executive Aviation at Falcon Field (FFZ).

But thats just my .02, be sure and research and get unbiased opinions about every school you consider, and be sure and ask all the right questions.
