Thus, regardless of intention, from day one, the pilot groups would be merged and thus McKaskill-Bond does apply.

Just my opinion.......

FNG

Midwest pilots have been out of work for over a year while this issue is being resolved. Legally, it is supposed to happen within 90 days under the McCaskill Amendment.

The judge basically says that if the ORIGINAL purpose of a transaction is to keep the airlines separate, then any future merger of the two airlines is NOT protected by the Bond/McCaskill amendment. The union employees of the acquired airline are NOT entitled to fair integration. You need good merger protections in your contract because the Bond/McCaskill amendment is now useless.

Why is the AFA fighting these battles and not ALPA. ALPA should have been the one fighting this battle for the Midwest Pilots.

Here is the court's legal opinion. Regardless of the outcome...it is a very dangerous legal opinion and sets a very dangerous precedent for future merger targets: http://docs.justia.com/cases/federal/district-courts/wisconsin/wiedce/2:2010cv00379/52921/20/

Hey PALS, hope EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING IS FANTASTIC. Anyway, thank gawd SWA planned to integrate AT, fully. That means the Bond/McKaskil bill stays put, and will be used. And, since they are a lot alike, that means the integration will probably be relative, after the few top hundred being all SWA (IMO) most likely. IRREGARDLESS, IT WILL BE A BLAST! YOU GUYS WILL HAVE SO MUCH FUN AFTER AN SLI IS DONE, THAT PEEING IN YOUR PANTS WILL BECOME A REGULAR OCCURANCE, AND THAT WON'T ONLY HAPPEN WHEN YOU DO AN UNSTABLE APPROACH INTO BURBANK. ENJOY IT!

Regardless, ALL OF YOU ARE FANTASIC PEOPLE. Really. TOP NOTCH. And, if you have time tonight, PLEASE try to do something nice for someone or something, like throwing a cat a piece of pepperoni pizza. Sure, your wife wanted an extra piece, but that cat is STARVING. See ya!

Bye Bye--General Lee

You know, the more the General tries to be nice, the more he reminds of how management speaks to the employees.

"what they say" (what they really mean)

"your all so great" (monkeys could do it)

"thanks for all you do" (I can't believe you put up with this job for so little)

"keep up the fantastic job you do" (if you screw up even a little, we'll threaten your job)

"we couldn't do it without you" (but we are devising more ways to outsource and eliminate more of your jobs)
