Has anyone here recently been to an AirTran interview who would be willing to share the experience?

I've been to the interview boards, and there is only one from July, the rest are several months old. Thanks to any who respond.

Try aviationinterviews.com, there are some recent posts there about Airtran. I interviewed back in April and everything I read off that site was dead on, very laid back interview. They wont ask anything technical, they just want to get to know you and make sure you really want to be at Airtran. It hurts but I highly suggest you do the sim prep before hand, it helps a great deal. Hope this helps, good luck!

Been to that site. Not too many recent ones. Thanks for your post. Did you get hired?

If he didn't make a G.W.B. joke he did.

LOL...I have no intention of bringing politics, nor political humor to any interview!

Hey, what's AAI ?

Thank you. Do you have an upcoming interview?

I wont speak for FLB717 but I believe AAI= Airtran Airways Inc.
DOH! That would make sense. I was thinking some sort of Instructor type position was what the "I" meant.

And to answer, yes, I do, and I couldn't be more excited about it!!!!! :D

AAI is the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) ID (Identification) or AirTran Airways, Inc.;)

Good luck on the interview, I won't hold it against you if you are a Demoncrat (much).:p PM me if you have any questions or thoughts. And yes I will give you an honest and straight answer.

You can also do the "poor mans" sim prep at your local flight school if they have an Elite model sim. The going rate here in Winter Haven is $20/ hour, $25 at the Elite headquarters in Orlando. Great for shaking off the rust if you've been out of the cockpit for a while.

Do you need letters of rec to get an interview? I know that airtran is going to be in D.C. for the job fair. Is that a good way to get a call(job fair)? Or should I just keep plugging away tring to send resumes via e-mail. Thanks.

Hey catfish,

Hows the line treating you guys?

Slow far, Slow good.....;) . I finished sims on 1 Aug, and I go on IOE on tuesday. Time off is nice, but I hope I'm not an idiot after 3 weeks away. Hope those airplanes keep rolling in cause I'm ready for more flying.

Dart,
Chances are slim to get an interview without either a rec letter (preferred) or going to a job fair. If you don't have a referral and you want to get on with AirTran, the job fair is worth the price. Good luck.

Are they strict about the 121 PIC time if you have a pilot walk in a resume or are they willing to let it slide with decent totals from 135 and 91? I recall the mins saying 500 PIC 121.

No way right now...

I know one of the HR people. Airtran will not hire 135 or 91 drivers anymore no matter what you fly, even if it is a 757. "Some" people failed school about a year ago and according to "Airtran" the common denominator was the lack of military or 121 experience. Some Part 135 operator that I know told me that he wouldn't hire military pilots because they flew too "rough". What an idiot!. So it goes both ways. The best pilots can be found in all types of background. We all bring something to the table. That goes for Airtran or any stupid 135 operator with an attitude. Ten years from now, Airtran's culture will reflect that bias. Obviously, it is their rightful choice. We all make our choices. Good luck...

Got the call from Gretta

Dart...I've been to two AirInc job fairs and sent e-mail updates to my resume and got the call last week to interview with AAI. Keep plugging away. Next AirInc fair is in DC on 18 Sep. May be worth the time/money to meet AAI reps. I also signed up for the sim prep at AirInc....Good luck.

FLB717....Thanks for the AAI tips throughout the boards. We could use all the gouge we could get. Sounds like a good company and growing....50 new 737-700s and -800s....nice.
