I agree that FO pay is awful. If you want to change it, then you have to change the supply and demand model. There are to many pilots. We need to make the commercial certificate harder to obtain. We should demand that the FAA require 500 hours of total time and a lot more bogus maneuvers. We should also ask the government to up the military pilots pay and give them long-term commitments to bases. That way military pilots will be able to stay in one place for a long period of time and they can may better money. Both of these moves will reduce the supply of pilots and bring us a lot more money. The SEC did it for stockbrokers, FASB did it for accountants and the ABA did it for lawyers. This won't happen because Riddle, Auburn, Aopa, Purdue and other 141 schools will have a fit. I say the heck with them, start the campaign today. An FO should start at $30 min.
