Question, I joined the Naval Reserve back in 92. At the time the recruiter BS me about everything. I had always wanted to fly jets. I was young, and immature at the time and after 2 weeks wanted out. I really wasn't ready for it then. The Navy told me I could rejoin after 2 years. Well when I tried they said that I was given an RE4 code on my discharge which apparently means I am not recommended for reenlistment. I contacted the Discharge Review board soon after, met with them and they turned me down. I contacted my congressman after that Bob Franks and all he did was pass the buck and nothing ever happened. No I have a decent amount of time and at 28 am running out of time I really am considering the Army guard for choppers or whatever I can get into and fly. Does anyone know what I can do to change this code. Would it be better not to say anything to the recruiter, I was only in 28 days, I mean I never even got my picture taken. Appreciate any help.

Dude, If you can't get in honestly, don't try. If you got a RE4 after 28 days, maybe you aren't suited for military life....

If you only want to wear the uniform in order to fly jets, don't bother. The military doesn't want you and you won't make the cut.

Sorry to be harsh,

Chunk

Bad News

Hey man. I am currenty a career counselor. With an RE-4 you are hosed. It sounds like you have petitioned the Bureau of corrections of Naval Records. If they won't change you from an RE-4, there isn't really anything you can do. You may be able to get into a different service but not indefinately, the records will catch up to you. Try another BCNR. I have seen them change their tune if someone request a change two or three times. Good Luck!
