I didn't catch all the details on KSAT news, but what happened at Randolph yesterday with the gear up landing/failure/collapse? Couldn't tell either by the video clip if it was a T-6 or Tweet.

Gracias

No big deal. That's probably the second or third time its occured in that tweet. MX will fix the gear issue and it'll be flying within the week most likely.

If it was pilot error that caused the gear up landing, they would jack it up, lower the gear, pull the body panels from another tweet in the shop for long term maintenence and it will fly the next day.

The ones that I knew about were all less than $10k damage - none of them left a prepared surface. Just damaged the speedbrake and flaps.

A few years back we had a gear up touch and go here. The IP noticed in the flare that something just didn't feel right (hey why's the gear handle up... what's that faint beeping noise) Well, as they waited for the engines to spool up the UHF antenna contacted the runway and ground a few inches off...

Also we had a gear up at a nearby civil field. MX jacked it up, dropped the gear, and changed the flaps. Then we flew it back to home base to get it fixed. Only visible damage was the speed brake, UHF antenna, and lower ventral fin (which I've been told was put there specifically for gear up landings... don't know if that ones true though)

Unfortunately, the person at the controls won't have the same fate.
