anyone know of an easy way to apply for/receive a temp radio telephone operaters permit/license? you used to be able to print a form off of the net and mail in the top half, the bottom half was your receipt as well as a temp permit. Thanks in advance...

Schedule F of the FCC form 605 (it's the last page of the form) is your temporary. You just fill it out and sign it and it serves as your temp. The form can be downloaded from the FCC site in .pdf format.

Or just go to your local Radio Shack.

radio permit

what's the purpose of this license anyway. Some airlines require them before an interview. It's a simple procedure to obtain it, but there is no test and it's simply a one time piece of paper.... I got mine when I had 1000 hours just to put on my resume to make me look more important..LOL

It's required in Canada and I think also Mexico for a commercial flight to transmit on the radio. BS paperwork is all it is. I don't think part 91 flights are required to have it.

Call the number on the app...you can apply online and get it. Most people I know have applied on a Monday and recieved in the mail on Friday.
