I am a couple weeks away from getting my private and I know that I need help with the radio. There are com one computer programs that cost around a hundred dollars. Does anyone know of a cheaper program that could help me out.

Pick up a copy of Say Again, Please. If you already don't have one, PM me your address and I will send you my old one.

Sit down with your instructor and let him act out the tower portion. That seems like it would be cheap and help a lot.

I just did exactly that with a student today.

Walk through your entire flight from engine start to shut down. Write that down and study it and you should be fine.

Good luck

CFIs trolling the Flightinfo boards are cheap, very cheap. Give us a little more detail on what you are having trouble with, such as phaseology, timing, format, etc. and we'd be happy to make some suggestions.

Buy or borrow a cheap aircraft band radio and listen to unicom, tower and center radio transmissions. You will find it is the same type information in the same order. Practice reading back the transmissions you listen to. I wouldn't worry about it, I had students with the same trouble. After a while they they got better, and so their confidence and abilities.
