Descending into PHX Wednesday evening had blue angel #6 try to slide underneath us while descending on the Arlin3 arrival. Problem was we were descending to make PAYNT at 11,000 and coming down fast. "Whoa, this guys close." ADJUST VERTICAL SPEED! ADJUST! Picked him up visually in a 45 degree bank away from us at 4 o'clock close in....He was making a VFR return to Luke AFB at 13,500. He sped by, turned on the smoke, and went on his merry way.... Thank you TCAS. Thank you Blue Angel. Thank you PHX approach. That would've sucked....

Does gunning a blue angel count? ;)

Cool story. It's always fun to encounter .mil jets, unless they are behind you.

former blue

And #6 is saying that he could have shot down an airliner!

"Where'd he go? WHere 'd who goooooooooo?"

What I wanna know... if you saw #6 close enough to read the number... where were the other 5?!?!

They probably didn't see his number and there's no rule that they all have to fly together all the time. Think maybe ATC was calling him Blue Angel 6? Just a guess but that does seem like a pretty good thing to call BA 6, dontcha think? ;)
