Compass is increasing their fleet from 36 to 48 E-Jets. And, rumor has it they're looking for more airframes.

Does anyone know what the expected upgrade time is there?

They were telling folks 2 years, but with oil and inflation going up, who knows. It's all dependent on big D hiring.

there is no such thing as an expected upgrade time. What happens 6 months from now is a mystery, much less 1-2 years.

One could make an educated guess. 95% of the posts on flightinfo.com appear to be educated guesses–the 95% figure was also an educated guess.

Seriously though, if someone was trying to position themselves for a quick upgrade, and a better QOL; doesn't Compass look good?

Almost as good as Comair did when I signed up. Hope it turns out better for you.

Compass has by far the best chance of movement and quickest potential upgrade in the near future. They are upgrading at least 6 Captains a month, every month for the rest of the year just for the additional airplanes alone. If Delta starts hiring soon (nobody is expecting any this year) then upgrades will happen much quicker. Good luck.

If you went today you would be subject to anywhere from 4-10 years under the imperialistic rule of treacherous King Hulas and Magistrate Leach. On top of that you are [currently] subject to being flushed by a Delta furlough 100x over and you get nothing in return. The pay is awful for the equipment / routes flown and you have to pay for your own lodging during initial training.

My view is that there are more shenanigans on the horizon for CPZ/TSA/GoJets likely to include a 3 way-whipsaw party for the MRJ with an added bonus that the loser "dies". Also, this recently added flying with DAL makes CPZ inherintly more valuable, and if TSH doesn't think CPZ is a good enough punching bag then they could easily sell the airline [staffing company] at a quick profit. If they do that, flow ends and so does the upgrade.

Its all a bit much, i know.

Just remember, if you work for TSH your job is to provide Hulas and Leach with Hookers and Blow. That is your job, and they want more..MOARR!

don't do it

i would imagine there will be quick upgrades the next 5 years anywhere, maybe except eagle.

Eagle upgrade is under 5 years, and the flowthru hasn't even started yet!

Not if they reduce the Eagle pilot group due to parking of 50 seaters. Then you might actually be looking at a furlough in a year or two. At least you will fly planes that say American on them. Nice..

Just an FYI Compass is no longer getting 12 170's. That number has been lowered to only the 6 from Australia and the entry date has been delayed at least a week for the first.

As many of us know dont count on new airplanes till they are in the air for your company. The internal memo said they will always be looking for new opportunities but there are not a lot of 170/175s sitting right now that they know of.

Best guess this will lower the number of new hires by 45-60. I am not sure how many they are trying to staff per A/C. We have had as little as 300 and as high as 420 or so on the list for 36 airplanes. The tendancy has been to staff really low as of late with most people (bottom 65% of seniority) getting lines force built to at least 85 hours(sometimes higher). They have always staffed us with zero flexabilty as it comes to trip trades.

Does anyone have any clue how this will affect those trying to get on right now? Do you think Compass will cancel interviews and/or classes? Should new hires expect endless reserve? I understand these are difficult questions to answer, but this is mojor news to those who are trying to get on property... thoughts?

Your joking right? Please enlighten us all on who has good payrates on the 170. Ask your Repukelic buddies how they like topping out at $37/hr...even on the 190! Now thats laughable!

Not joking. The pay is awful. Just because Compass isn't the ugliest girl in town doesn't mean she ain't ugly.

First year, 25k minus whatever you pay for your lodging during training, to fly a 89000 lb airplane across the continent of north america. Topping out at 37k or 43k as an FO is the same thing, the average CA taking in 70k is also sad. IMO for the equipment/routes flown thats awful, your opinion may be different.

Plus we just found out that we are only getting 6 of the planned 12 additional 170's. Guess we got outbid by some European carrier.

I tend to agree with Flyer1015 that the time to go to Compass has probably passed.

the only one I know is Air Canada! Why... because it is a mainline aircraft. It is always a kick in the crotch when we see a AC 175 taxi by us knowing our entire crew (pilots and FA's combined) make less than their captains.
