Im taking my FAA 1st class medical tommorrow morning. As luck would have it im getting sick today sore-throat, cold. Will this affect me getting my cert. Or do most AME able to tell the difference between common cold and disqualifing problem. Any input appreciated dont want to be deferred. I would re-schedule but this guy is packed for openings. and I'm nervous anyways about it so i just want to get it over with.

You shouldn't have any problems. I would hope that a Dr. would be able to tell you just have the sniffles. Good Luck

Don't sweat it, it's just a cold. On that note, I'd skip any hardcore medications for 8 hours or so before the appointment. Cold medication can play with your blood pressure, heart rate, and urine chemistry. Probably nothing disqualifying, but why tempt fate. Smile pretty and always request extra K-Y.

Medical

Hope you find this before your appointment. I second all the above. Don't worry about it. I had a bad URI when I went for my second medical. The doctor, who was a forensic psychiatrist by trade, was great about it; in fact, he wrote me a script for antibiotics. Several years later, I was ill again and went for my medical. No problem, and I saw my regular doctor for my illness that afternoon.
