I was just wondering what FedEx's current fleet composition was. I was also wondering if anybody can tell me what all the current flight crew bases are. Isn't it true some of them are overseas? If there are any current or former FedEx folks who used to do a lot of international work, could you please PM me? I'd like to pick your brain a little bit. I'm years away from applying, but I'd like to fire my resume over there at some point.

Thanks!

Go over to Interviews>majors... that's where we hang out. Do a search, as there have been alot of threads about all your questions.

Huck:

Thanks! I was wondering if you guys would be under here or not since FedEx qualifies as a Major and a Cargo operator. I'll check around over there.

Skyward,
The current fleet is made up of: 727's, A300'S, A310's, DC-10's, MD-10's, and MD-11's. We are supposed to take delivery of the A380's starting in 2008. The domestic crew bases are MEM (all fleet types), LAX (MD-11), and ANC (MD-11). The only overseas base is in Subic Bay, Phillipines. That base is Airbus only. If you're a MEM based Airbus driver then you can bid for temporary flying out of Europe. I'm not an Airbus guy but I hear it's a pretty good deal. They deadhead you over to Europe first class. The trip is usually around a week and a half to two weeks long then you deadhead back to the states on a first class ticket. I haven't done much international flying but there are some MD-11 guys that frequent this board that would know a lot more than I. The only real international that the DC-10 does now days is Campinas, Brazil. It's near Sao Paulo and is about a 10 hour flight from MEM. Well, I hope that answers your questions. Good luck to ya.

I heard from some hangar talk that your overnights are in a dark room in your hangars or around ops. Is that true or do you guys/gals stay in hotels? Just wondering.

Yes, we do have dark rooms near our ops area that we stay in if we are doing a hub turn. If the hub turn in not at our base and the sit time is over four hours then we get a hotel room. If we are on an overnight then we do get a hotel and they tend to be very nice hotels. International overnights are generally of the five star variety.
