Another eye sight question. I have a friend who has always had 20/20 vision or better but lately one of his eyes has fallen off to maybe 20/30 or 20/40. I far as I know this is still within the limits for uncorrected vision for the Air Force but I mentioned to him some rumors I have heard of of contact lenses that can be worn for a day or two before an eye exam to hold the shape of the cornea to 20/20 vision. Has anyone else heard of this? Is it safe? I told him I would put the question out there so if anyone has any info on this elusive little tactic please advise.

You have to sign something that says you haven't worn contacts for the preceeding 30 days before the examination. That can come back to bite you if you get found out. 20/70 or worse is disqualifying, 20/30 or 20/40 is not too bad and within regs. Just think twice before trying to "pull a fast one".

My $0.02.
